The FCAT is administered to public school students and FCAT Writing, which measures writing proficiency, is given to fourth, eighth and 10th graders.
According to the Florida Department of Education, as of 2010, there are no state mandated consequences for a failing score on the FCAT Writing portion of the test.
The FCAT Writing scores range from one to six points, with a six being the highest. Each school district determines what they consider a passing score.
