Google Apps in Math Tutoring

Google Apps is a feature of the Google Chrome browser that allows you to customize and personalize the homepage that displays when you open the browser. If you are signed in to your Gmail account, you can add items to the homepage through the "Google Apps Store" located under the "Gear" icon at the top-right of the Google homepage (see Resources) listed under "iGoogle settings" and "Gadgets." If you are not able to locate the settings or the "Gear" icon, click the "More" option on the toolbar at the top of the "Google" homepage. Click "Even More" and click "iGoogle." Choose "Add Gadgets" and type "Writing," "Science" or "Math" in the search box to display the corresponding applications. Some of the resulting "Apps" are educational applications that tests your knowledge of subjects such as writing, science and math. If you do not have a Gmail account, you can create one by going to the "Gmail" website (see Resources) and clicking "Create an Account."
  1. Addition Math

    • The "Addition Math App" is an addition quiz that tests how quickly you can add numbers. It is a timed quiz that allows you to type in your answer or skip the question, if necessary.

    Division Math

    • This application is a math division quiz that has a timer, score keeper and way to skip a question and come back to it later if you do not know the answer. The application asks a division question and you type the correct answer in the space indicated. The application immediately lets you know if the answer is right or wrong and moves to the next question.

    Math Counting Puzzle

    • This math puzzle is similar to the game "Sudoku," which tests your knowledge of sequential numbers and addition of numbers in columns and rows.

    Practice Math

    • This application helps you to study addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It presents you with a random question based on the level of difficulty you chose. It then lets you know if the answer is wrong or right and gives you a chance to answer again or find out the answer.
