CDS Exam stands for Combined Defence Services Examination. It is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), for recruitment of candidates into the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Air Force Academy (AFA). Candidates who qualify the written exam are called for an interview and a medical test. Successful candidates are finally admitted to the respective academies for further training. The CDS exam comprises:

* General Knowledge (200 marks)
* Elementary Mathematics (200 marks)
* Essay (100 marks)
