Why was the second sene in act two of crucible removed?

The second scene in Act Two of Arthur Miller's play "The Crucible" was not actually removed from the play. The play consists of four acts, and there is no second scene in Act Two. All the scenes in Act Two are present and accounted for in standard versions of the play.
