What is relative effectiveness?

Relative effectiveness is the ratio of the observed effect to the expected effect.

It is a measure of how effective a treatment is in achieving a desired outcome. Expressed as a percentage, relative effectiveness is helpful for decision-making when comparing the effectiveness of different interventions.

$$Relative\ effectiveness\ %=\frac{observed\ effect}{expected\ effect}\times100$$

- Relative effectiveness is a quantitative measure that is useful for comparing the effectiveness of different interventions and making decisions about which intervention to use.

- It is calculated by dividing the observed effect of an intervention by the expected effect of that intervention.

- Relative effectiveness is expressed as a percentage, with 100% indicating that the observed effect is equal to the expected effect and a value less than 100 indicating that the observed effect is less than the expected effect.

- A relative effectiveness of more than 100% indicates that the observed effect is greater than the expected effect.
