Activities for Teaching Numbers in Spanish

Whether a student is learning how to count in Spanish or struggling to memorize the numbers from 0 to 10, activities are a fun way to improve the student's knowledge.

These activities reinforce the student's ability to recite, write and perform basic mathematical computations in Spanish. These resources include activities ranging from print-out quizzes to games the student can access at any time on the Internet.
  1. Los Numeros Spanish Numbers Game

    • A to Z Teacher Stuff offers the Los Numeros Spanish Numbers Game as part of the Spanish 4-Game pack.

The Spanish numbers game resembles bingo. Each card has 25 random numbers ranging from 0 to 100. The tutor may call out the number in Spanish as the student attempts to locate it on his card. If the number is on the student's card, he can place a marker on it. The first player to cover five squares in a row wins the game.

As of July 6, 2010, the product is available for download at A to Z Teacher Stuff's website for $2.95 (U.S.). Upon payment, the customer will have access to download a printable PDF file that includes 10 playing boards, 101 number cards with Spanish names, 101 unlabeled number cards for advanced play and a full translation and pronunciation guide.

    Digital Dialects' Spanish Games

    • Digital Dialects offers several Spanish games covering a wide range of subjects such as phrases and greetings, days and months and units of time. These games are free to access and play on the Internet.

The Spanish section has three games dedicated to certain groups of numbers: 1 to 12, 13 to 20 and 10 to 100. These games are set at the intermediate level.

Before playing each of the games, the students have the opportunity to review a list of the numbers in English and Spanish. When the student begins the game, she will solve math problems. However, the problems and solutions are written in Spanish. The game is timed, so the student will learn how to read and process the numbers quickly.

    Enchanted Learning's Numbers in Spanish

    • Enchanted Learning's Spanish Numbers section includes many types of activities.

Charts provide the numbers from 0 to 100 in Spanish as well as their pronunciations. The website also offers a nine-page coloring book for a younger student to practice the numbers 0 through 10.

Enchanted Learning's website also offers printouts for quizzes about the numbers. One of the quiz printouts is geared to test the student's knowledge of spelling out the numbers in Spanish.

The site also has a printable set of number word dominoes, ranging from 1 to 6. The students can learn these numbers while playing games at the same time.

Enchanted Learning offers a preview of all of these activities, but site members will have full access to the website's archives of activities. Members can download the activities in PDF format.

As of July 6, 2010, the website offers two types of subscriptions: A personal/family/single-teacher subscription is $20 (U.S.) for one a 1-year subscription. A single school subscription is $125 (US) for 1 year.
