This project can be used at any level of study and in conjunction with most curriculum subjects. Students would be required to create a portfolio or poster about themselves using pictures, paint, color or any other materials they wish. Projects can be as complex or simple as regarded for the grade and can be done within one lesson or over the course of several weeks.
The project can incorporate key features of a certain subject for advanced or higher grade students. For example, students studying English would might be asked to produce a portfolio of creative writing, articles or stories focusing on their lives. The project can also performed as a group project to promote team learning skills, communication and encouraging active learning amongst the students.
This classroom project can again be used for any level. Students should take a product or idea and focus on developing the idea as a small-business venture. Students can brainstorm ideas for their business or a product to sell in groups, and discuss the best methods of advertising, pricing, promoting and establishing their idea on the market.
Higher grade students can involve aspects of trade, expenses, advertisement, investments and establish positions for students within their small business. Students can improve analytical skills, critical thinking and organizational skills through a fictional business venture. Other subjects such as Mathematics, English, Arts, Social Studies and business studies can be enhanced through classroom business venture projects. You can also include other skills such as information technology and graphic design aspects.
Students can focus on fictionally developing an area near the school, such as a large field or unused areas, and create designs for their own "Community Development" project. Students can explore the area they will fictionally develop and brainstorm ideas, either as a team or individually, for possible uses of the land.
Students can also be shown examples of real community development scenarios (including any project planning notes available for higher grades) to enhance their knowledge of the community and can use computer software (again mainly higher grade students) to design the development. Students can also be asked to write a little bit about why they would use the land for a particular purpose or why they think it would benefit the community.
Students should bring in any old boxes, cardboard, plastic and newspaper they have. Encourage students to recycle a few weeks' waste by keeping it and bringing it into class to create an art project.
Student are shown the landscape of a city or town. Students will have to reproduce the basic skyline of the city using recycled materials, and paint the skyline in their own colors. Art students can particularly benefit from this classroom project, but it can generally be used for any subject.
