How did the sooners get their name?

The Sooners got their name from the Land Run of 1889, when thousands of people rushed into the Oklahoma Territory to claim land. Many of these people arrived before the official starting time of the land run, and they were known as "Sooners" because they had "soonered" in.

The term "Sooner" was originally used in a derogatory way, but it was later adopted by the people of Oklahoma as a term of pride. Today, the Sooners are known for their strong sense of community and their love of all things Oklahoma.

The Sooners are also known for their love of football. The University of Oklahoma Sooners football team is one of the most successful college football teams in the United States. The Sooners have won 7 national championships and have been to the College Football Playoff 10 times.

The Sooners are a proud and passionate people, and they are proud to call Oklahoma their home.
