Why did an Australian school recently ban high hives and hugs?

A school in Australia, St. Catherine's School in Sydney, recently banned "high fives" and hugs, not high hives (which are beekeeping structures). The reason cited was to reduce the spread of illness among students. This was particularly pertinent given the ongoing prevalence of respiratory illnesses like the flu and COVID-19, as physical contact is a known means of transmission for many viruses and bacteria.
