Watch the DVD that comes with the creative curriculum program. The DVD is an instructional video to help educators get started with the curriculum and walks you through the process of how to use the materials.
Read the five knowledge-building curriculum volumes. Volume one is called The Foundation, volume two is called Interest Areas, volume three is Literacy, volume four is Mathematics and volume five is titled Objectives for Development & Learning.
Set your preschooler's curriculum objectives. Use the creative curriculum program's Objectives for Development & Learning worksheet as a guideline. Language, cognitive, literacy and social skills are broken down into areas that your preschooler should accomplish during preschool. Coming up with objectives helps you determine whether your child is on track with what he should be learning in preschool.
Identify the teaching tools, supplies and resources you need to institute an effective preschool program in your home. You might need to purchase items such as note cards, writing boards and file folders so that you get the most of the planned curriculum lessons.
Follow the structure of the creative curriculum. Do not vary from the sequence or create your own. The creative curriculum is based on a strategic theory for educating young children and the curriculum order is meant to flow in a particular order.
Incorporate game play, songs, poems and storytelling with the creative curriculum. You will be prompted to come up with your own in-between activities for your preschooler to do when she has a break from the structured curriculum.
