Use coloring pages. Children love to color, let them color and learn Spanish at the same time. Print free coloring pages from the Internet and have the children color pages according to the themes or holidays for the week. Practice with the children, saying the Spanish name of the color, number, letter, or object they are coloring.
Set up file folder games for the children. Cut out pictures of animals and other objects and color them in. Stick them on the inside of manila file folders and laminate the folders. Attach a piece of Velcro under the picture and write the name of the object in Spanish on a separate piece of paper. Attach a piece of Velcro on the back of the word. Have the children match the Spanish word with the objects inside the manila file folders.
Use a puppet to help teach Spanish. Children love puppets and love to interact with them. Give your puppet a fun name such as Taco Paco or another fun Spanish name. Only bring the puppet out at certain times of day for the Spanish lesson. Have the children repeat the word in English and Spanish (after the puppet says it). The children will enjoy watching the puppet and will learn Spanish at the same time.
Use Spanish music and instruments to help teach Spanish. Use maracas and finger cymbals and show the children how to dance around and make music. Play a Spanish song such as "La Bamba." Practice saying some of the words in English and Spanish at various times in the dance and music session.
Have parents practice Spanish with their children. The more the children practice, the more quickly they will learn the language. Encourage parents to practice words and identify items (such as at the grocery store or at home) in English and Spanish. The children will enjoy a subject they can share and learn along with their parents.
