Sometimes kids get crayons mixed up with colored chalk. Crayon marks can be tough to clean off a chalkboard; obviously, you can't rub them out with a standard chalkboard eraser. A few sprays of lubricant and some gentle scrubbing with soap and water should wash away those crayon marks without scratching your chalkboard's surface.
