Incorporate learning into your daily curriculum but remember that your primary goal is to care for children.
Create a curriculum that is appropriate for the age of the children in your day care center. Evaluate their development capacity and design the daily schedule based on what will stimulate them and encourage their learning.
Set aside time every day for the children to eat. Establishing times for specific tasks will prepare them for school life. Aid their development during these times by guiding children to clean and pick up after themselves.
Minimize television watching, unless it involves educational videos that encourage children's development.
Involve games that keep the children physically active. This promotes fitness and healthy weight, as well as strengthens children's growing muscles.
Set up games for the children to play and interact with each other. This will help them develop social skills. If the children are old enough, allow them to dictate the game's pace and enforce the rules.
Schedule free time for the children into the curriculum. This approach is especially useful with younger children and encourages them to develop their own interests. Keep a variety of toys, games and crafts available from which they can choose.
