Preschool Graduation Skit Ideas

Preschoolers love when adults think they're funny, so most of them will enjoy putting on a silly show for their families at graduation. Put on a skit so parents can see what the children learned that year. Practice at least once a day in the week leading up to the ceremony and make a backup plan in case a child gets stage fright and refuses to participate.
  1. First Day of Kindergarten

    • Act out what the first day of kindergarten will be like. This will help children who are anxious about moving up, making them feel more comfortable about what to expect. Have some children act out getting on the bus, riding to school and getting off. Another group of children can pretend to go into their new classroom, meet their teacher and discover all the interesting toys in the room. Another group can be sitting at desks, pretending to learn how to spell their names. A final group of children can be leaving school, riding home on the bus and happy about how much fun school was.

    Summer Safety

    • Children can demonstrate what they've learned about how to be safe by acting out all the right and wrong ways to stay safe in summertime. Have some children pretend to be adults and others be children. Have several groups act out different scenarios. For instance, one group can act out a pool scene where the children are swimming. Have them follow the directions that a lifeguard gives them. Another group might be playing at a park when a stranger offers them candy, so they must run over to tell a parent or babysitter what happened.

    How to Treat Others

    • Act out a skit about how children should treat other people. Show different scenarios where the children interact with peers, siblings, parents, teachers and strangers. In each scenario, children can use respectful words and show the right way to treat others. They can show how they should handle being angry at a friend or sibling, and how to follow directions from parents and teachers without talking back. Have them demonstrate how to be polite to strangers but how to get help if the person tries to touch them or makes them uncomfortable.

    What We Learned in Preschool

    • If you put on a skit about what you did that year in preschool, children will all be itching to play the teacher. Reenact your school year, starting with a group of children being nervous at the start of the year. Have them act out how they learned about the class rules and met all their new friends. Other groups can pretend that it's Halloween and talk about the class party. Another group can pretend to be learning about a favorite lesson, like the time a firefighter visited or when you learned about insects. The final group can be getting ready for graduation and talk about what a great year they had.
