Good Samaritan Craft Ideas for Preschool

Developing craft ideas for preschoolers is a way to teach kids life concepts and practical skills. Although preschool-aged children may not be able to tackle more some projects alone, with the proper supervision and guidance they can learn basic craft skills. Tying craft projects to stories that teach morals, like that of the Good Samaritan, and other concepts will build on critical thinking skills.
  1. Good Samaritan Candy Rolls

    • Have children color three rectangular panels with characters from the Good Samaritan story. Glue or tape the panels around the cardboard tube. Cut a square cut sheet of colored cellophane paper on one end of the tube and secure with a rubber band. Fill the tube with Good Samaritan-themed candy such as chocolate kisses. Close the remaining end with another square of cellophane paper and secure with another rubber band. Use a decorative ribbon to the ends of the tube to cover the rubber bands. Have children share the rolls with a neighbor or friend.

    Memory Pictures

    • Have children color pictures of memories of someone helping them or helping others on standard-size paper. Once the pictures have been colored, have each child explain their picture and what part of the story it represents. Write a caption of the theme of the story the picture is about. Create a frame out of decorated Popsicle sticks. Have the children color the sticks or cover them in craft material such as glitter or beads.

    Good Samaritan Good Neighbor

    • Have the children draw pictures of their classroom neighbor. In each drawing have the children show how their neighbor is a Good Samaritan to the class or others. Talk about what makes someone a Good neighbor and what makes them a Good Samaritan.

    Good Samaritan Picture Books

    • Construct small booklets using construction paper and staples or glue to bind the pages together. Have students illustrate the pages to show scenes from the Good Samaritan story or their interpretation of the themes such as sharing, helping, and caring for others. Have each child gift their Good Samaritan picture book to a neighbor family member and share the story.
