Edible cream cheese play dough is an easy and enjoyable sensory art project for preschoolers. To make it, gather 1 tbsp. of honey, 1/2 cup of dry milk and 8 ounces of softened cream cheese. Mix these ingredients in a bowl until blended. The mixture will be similar to the texture and thickness of play dough. Have the children make play dough sculptures, adding other edibles such as nuts and raisins as decorations, before eating.
Children will enjoy the idea of painting a picture with edible paint made out of Kool-Aid. To make, gather several flavors of Kool-Aid, paint cups, paintbrushes, water and paper, either plain or a coloring picture. Take each packet of Kool-Aid and pour it into a paint cup. Fill the cup about halfway with the water, making sure to avoid overdiluting the Kool-Aid. Allow the children to paint their picture using the edible Kool-Aid paint.
Preschoolers will love creating this edible "ant in the sand" art project. Gather chocolate sprinkles, snack-sized resealable plastic bags and graham cracker sheets. Have the children take their graham cracker sheet and place it into the plastic bag. Seal the bag and allow the children to crush crackers to a sandlike texture. Open, and add chocolate sprinkles to the graham cracker sand to complete the craft.
These cookie spiders are sure to be a big hit with any preschooler. Gather chocolate or black licorice twists (eight for each child), chocolate frosting, fudge sandwich cookies and red cinnamon candies. Cut the licorice sticks in half for the children. Instruct the children to first remove the top of their cookie and set it aside. Take the eight licorice pieces and press them into the cookie's center so the licorice resembles spider legs. Spread a small amount of chocolate frosting on top of the licorice and place the cookie top over the licorice. Place two small dots of frosting on top of the cookie, and adhere the cinnamon candies, or the spider eyes, to complete the craft.
