Children enjoy music, and it works as a great tool in teaching children their phone number. Sing it to the tune of a familiar song. "The Muffin Man" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" work well to teach their seven-digit number and the phone number including area code.
Turn learning into a tasty treat by baking a batch of sugar cookies. Let your child cut out the phone number using number-shaped cookie cutters. Cut the numbers out and arrange them on the cookie sheet in the correct order. After the cookies are baked and cooled, mix them up and have her put them in order again.
Creating a colorful graph can help children learn their home phone number. Write the phone number on the bottom of a piece of paper. Draw nine squares above each number and have the child use a different colored crayons or markers to color the correct number of squares above each number.
Have kids learn their phone number by hopping on one foot and then the other. Write "0" through "9" onto 8 1/2 x 11-inch pieces of paper. Tape each piece of paper securely onto the floor, as they would appear on a telephone. Have her jump from one number to the next as though she was dialing the numbers with her feet.
