Fill a glass jar with foil-wrapped chocolate candies or kisses. Ask each child to guess the number of candy kisses in the jar. Award a candy prize for the best guess or correct number. Reward all guessers by allowing the children to eat the contents of the jar.
Give the children conversation hearts, white craft glue and an activity sheet featuring an empty heart. Ask the children to guess how many conversation hearts will fill the empty heart. Write down each child's guess. Instruct the children to fill the empty heart with glued conversation hearts and to count how many hearts were glued. Record the total.
Give each child two gold stickers, a piece of foil-wrapped Valentine candy and two pieces of ribbon notched on one end. Demonstrate how to secure the ribbons between the gold stickers. The children can choose to write their names or draw a small heart on the front gold sticker. Demonstrate how to place the candy on the back gold sticker with white craft glue.
Take individual pictures of the children or ask them to bring a picture from home. Give each child two candy canes and a sheet of construction paper. Ask the children to glue their pictures in the center of the construction paper. Demonstrate how to glue the ends of the candy canes around the picture to form a heart.
Design a sweet bulletin board for preschool children. Learn the name of each child's favorite candy. Print the child's name in a heart and display her favorite candy choice beside her name. The child practices reading her name and classmates' names while she waits for the Valentine's Day celebration.
