Pamm's House offers a curriculum that covers every day of the week and offers ideas for different themes throughout the year. The subject areas covered include toddler and preschool math, literacy and social skills. Ideas are shared for free, however, there is an available accompanying packet for a charge, which includes lesson plans and limited materials. Toddler packs are sold separately from preschool packs, with preschool packs receiving extra gross motor development tools.
The Learning Box Preschool offers their curriculum kits for a charge. It includes lesson plans, weekly planners, materials and recipes for day care activities for preschool-age children. The kits include wall hangings, games with instructions, books and fingerplays for children as well as full instructions and curriculum ideas for providers. Subject areas covered include science, math, literacy, outdoor play and crafts for creative play.
The CARE Connection is an accessory program that provides a curriculum for in-home day cares who participate in the Child and Adult Food Care Program. The curriculum uses food and nutrition in separate toddler and preschool lesson plans to teach concepts such as math and literacy. Through the cooking connection, craft connection or learning connection, providers will find ideas to use food and nutrition as a teaching tool. While this curriculum may not be able to stand alone in an in home day care, it can be used to supplement any of the other available curricula.
The book "The Weekly Curriculum: 52 Complete Preschool Themes" by Barbara Backer provides in-home day cares with 52 weeks of ideas for preschoolers. A provider may choose the ideas best suited to the individual preschool program. The book takes a provider through every week of the year, including holidays and special events, with ideas, songs, games, crafts, food and learning opportunities in math, gross motor skills, literacy and science. The materials will need to be purchased separately, but the book is a useful starting point for in-home providers searching for a beginning to building their own unique curriculum.
