One well-known company that has been producing activity toys for children for more than 70 years is Fisher-Price. One of its websites --- Fisher Price Online Games and Activities (see Resources) --- features many different games, activities and printable coloring pages. These include alphabet learning games, puzzles, memory matching, clicking and coloring, shapes, animals and sounds, stories and counting.
UpToTen (see Resources) is produced for children from birth to the age of 10. It has more than 500 games and more than 50 songs, as well as online stories. It also gives advice to parents and guardians. All games and activities are categorized to allow for easier browsing. Category titles include Stories, Animations, Silly Games, Mazes, Musical Games, Guessing Games and Creative Games, just to name a few.
Kneebouncers was designed by parents and attempts to combine fun with educational activities. It is bright and colorful and includes characters such as Ceasar and Sly Cat. Sesame Street is a well-known television show for infants and toddlers, and the Sesame Workshop is an online version of it. It has games, stories, art and music sections as well as Elmo's World. This character from the series is a lovable monster that has been popular with generations of young children. The website also includes a section for parents.
Toddle Toons contains a collection of 12 games for children aged from 10 months to 3 years. The games are designed to be interactive but require relatively few keyboard skills. Children can press keys or click the mouse to perform the activities. Because children will need some assistance doing this, important interaction is developed between them and the parents. Certain basic concepts are identified and form the basis of the games. These include cause and effect, big and little, up and down, happy and sad and colors and shapes.
