How to Write a Middle School Speech for a Treasurer

Middle school is usually the first time that students get a chance to take part in an elected government, called student council. Generally, the student government is made up of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and a number of representatives. While each school differs, the treasurer usually keeps track of the student council's money. If you want to be elected to this position, you need to know the responsibilities of the treasurer at your school and convince your peers you can fulfill those responsibilities.

Instructions

    • 1

Research the job of the treasurer. Find out which funds you will be in charge of and what you can do with those funds. Knowing this information is critical to convincing your peers that you can handle the position.

    • 2

Introduce yourself to the audience. Give your name and your grade. Tell the audience what kind of activities you're interested in, but keep it short. You shouldn't spend more than five to seven sentences introducing yourself.

    • 3

State your relevant experience, if any. Use the job description of the treasurer to help you through this process. Tell the audience about one of the responsibilities of the treasurer, and tell a story about how you've performed that task before.

    • 4

Tell the audience about any additional skills you bring to the position. For example, if you want to create a new way of tracking the money that the student council spends, then tell the audience about your plan and why you have the skills to execute the plan.

    • 5

End your speech by briefly recapping the reasons you are the best person for the job. Refer back again to the responsibilities of the treasurer and remind the audience that you have the skills necessary to fulfill those responsibilities. Thank the audience for their time and leave the stage.
