Multiply the number of hectares by 10,000 to convert to square meters. For an example, 20 ha multiplied by 10,000 converts to 20,000 m^2.
Add four zeros to the right end of the number and shift the decimal four places to the right to convert hectares to square meters. For an example, adding four zeros to 5.875 ha results in 5.8750000, and shifting the decimal four places to the right results in 58,750.000 or 58,750 m^2.
Perform your conversions with an online tool like Convert Units (see Resources). Enter the number of hectares in the space provided to the left of the "hectares" label; click "Convert!" to display the measurement in square meters underneath it.
