Wordly Wise is a series of vocabulary workbooks for students in grades two through 12. Each book in the series carries a letter, with Book A being the easiest, for second graders or advanced first-graders. Many of the levels overlap, such that, say, a third-grader would be able to accomplish the work either at the end of Book B or at the start of Book C.
The Wordly Wise 3000 system brought about an overhaul of the Wordly Wise series, introducing online assistance for teachers, reading comprehension exercises and a new focus on Greek and Latin word roots. The 3000 series is for students in grades one through 12, with advanced kindergarten students being eligible for the first book. Book A, then, is designed for children in kindergarten or first grade, and book B is for children in first or second grade and so on.
For the Second Edition, EPS abandoned the "A," "B" and "C" book designations and instead labeled each book by the grade level for which it is designed. Thus, Book 1 is for first grade, Book 2 is for second grade, etc. A customer service representative from EPS said that Book 1 contains the "general content of Book A, plus most of Book B" from the first edition.
Book A of the original Wordly Wise series is still on the market and available at eps.schoolspecialty.com. Its EPS order number is product #428. Book A of Wordly Wise 3000 First Edition is product #2425. Book 1 of the Second Edition is product #2819.
