When someone performs a good deed or displays positive behavior, award him with a behavior ticket. The student collects tickets each time he does something well, to redeem prizes. Find out the types of prizes the students like, to encourage students to want to earn behavior tickets. The tickets are redeemable like cash, with larger prizes costing more tickets.
If your school has a school wide television station or intercom system, announce student achievements. Announce the names or make a video of students who have displayed positive behavior. This shows students that positive behavior is appreciated and expected within the school. Other students may strive to be recognized in this way by improving behavior.
Invite parents to celebrate student behavioral success. Teachers choose students who consistently practice positive behavior to attend the reception. This is a time for parents, students and teachers to socialize and thank the parents for providing support to encourage the student. The teacher also awards students with certificates during this time.
Peer mediators attempt to change negative behaviors into positives. The mediators are groups of students chosen by teachers who display excellent behavior. This group listens to peer conflicts and provides solutions to help students overcome problems to increase positive behaviors. Students learn steps to avoid negativity and are provided with resources within the school to utilize, like counselors.
