Cut out 52 small squares, from sheets of cardstock, that will be used for a game of Alphabet Memory. On 26 of the squares, write each of the uppercase letters. Use the remaining squares to write each of the lowercase letters. Place each of squares, face down, in straight rows and columns. Take turns turning two squares over. The object is to match upper and lowercase letters. When you find a match, keep the squares. The person with the most matches at the end of the game wins.
Make Bingo cards using cardstock or construction paper. Write a different letter in each square. Cut 26 squares from the paper and write a different letter of the alphabet on each. Place the squares in a bowl and shuffle around. Draw a letter from the bowl and call it out for the children to hear. If the letter appears on their card, have them put a Bingo chip over it. The first child to have a complete row of letters with chips over them wins.
Make a book using 26 sheets of plain, white paper and two sheets of colored construction paper. Use a three-hole paper punch to make evenly matched-up holes in the paper sheets, and fasten together using yarn. Have the children draw a different letter on each of the white sheets. Locate pictures in old magazines that begins with the sound of each letter, and glue it to it's respected page.
Search for letters in everyday life experiences, from store signs to license plates. At the beginning of each car trip, challenge your child to locate each letter of the alphabet along the way, beginning with the letter "A".
