Prepare index cards with Spanish vocabulary on one side and the English translation on the other. Instruct the student in the first seat of the first row and the student behind him to stand side by side. Hold up the flashcard with the English word facing the students. The student who correctly says the Spanish translation first proceeds to the desk behind him where the next student will stand and play. The student who did not answer first sits down until the next round. Continue to play the game to see who can go furthest "around the world."
Divide students into groups of four. Give each group one large pad of paper and a few markers. Each student takes turns drawing out one vocabulary word. The students who are not drawing must guess what is being drawn. Instruct the students to only speak Spanish during the game.
Give each student a blank piece of paper and instruct him to draw a 5-by-5 grid. Ask students to use their vocabulary lists to draw out 24 of the vocabulary words. Add color to the drawings. Leave the middle square blank for a free space. Make sure the students do not write the word or translation with the picture. After each student completes her card, randomly call out Spanish vocabulary words. The student who correctly gets five pictures in a row is the winner.
Divide the class into four groups. Set up four tables of objects that relate to your vocabulary lesson. For example, if you are learning food vocabulary set up various foods like apples, bananas, bread and other food items. Give each group index cards with the vocabulary words already written in Spanish and tape. Each group must place the index card on the correct object. The first team to correctly identify all objects is the winner.
