Open your packages of modeling clay, and then slice the slabs of clay into thinner pieces with a knife -- keep the slabs under 2 inches thick. Repackage your clay.
Distribute blank cards, pencils and transfer pens to your students. Instruct your students to sketch out art influenced by Ancient Egyptian culture onto the cards, using pencils. Have them trace the completed sketches with transfer ink pens.
Pass out the modeling clay to your students, and then have them press the inked side of their drawing against the slabs of clay -- the transfer ink's outline on the clay will be used as a guide when your students carve the clay.
Instruct your students to use the needle tools to carve out the ink outline and to cut out flat and sharp areas of their art. Instruct them to use the loop tool to carve contour curves into the clay.
Bake your students' clay reliefs at home. Alternatively, use the ovens in your school's industrial arts or home economics classroom. Bake the clay on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the art one hour for every square inch of clay; allow the clay to cool before handling.
Present the finished art to your students.
