Weighted Average Grade Point
The Weighted Average Grade Point (WAGP) is calculated by multiplying the grade points of each course by the number of credits for that course, and then dividing the total by the total number of credits.
Example:
A student takes the following courses:
Course Credits Grade Grade Points
MATH 101 3 A- 3.7
ENG 101 3 B+ 4.0
HIST 101 3 B 3.0
ECON 101 3 C+ 2.5
BIOL 101 3 C- 1.7
Total 15 14.9
WAGP = 14.9 / 15 = 0.993
Note:
- A "D+" is the lowest passing grade.
- An "E" is a failing grade.
- An "F" is a failing grade.
- A student must have a WAGP of at least 2.0 to graduate from the University of Ghana.
- A student may be placed on academic probation if their WAGP falls below 2.0.
