The K to 12 Program has several key components:
- Universal Kindergarten. This component aims to provide all Filipino children access to quality kindergarten education. Kindergarten is now compulsory for all children aged 5 years old, and it is included in the 12 years of basic education.
- Enhanced Elementary and High School Curriculum. The curriculum for elementary and high school has been revised and enhanced to include more relevant and age-appropriate content. The new curriculum also focuses on developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills in students.
- Senior High School Program. This component added two years of senior high school to the existing 10 years of basic education. Senior high school offers a wider range of subjects and more specialized tracks, allowing students to focus on their interests and prepare for their future careers.
- Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The K to 12 Program also places a strong emphasis on TVET. TVET programs are designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to enter the workforce immediately after high school.
The K to 12 Program is a major reform in the Philippine educational system. It aims to improve the quality of education, provide students with more opportunities, and prepare them for the future.
