Ask students to record the biography of someone in a creative way. Leave the project open to interpretation. Some suggestions are a video montage of an individual's life or different shots of objects describing a person played to the subject's favorite songs. Allow students to create a biography of virtually anyone they choose. They might select to include interviews from one of their parents or a historian's perspective of a famous individual from the past.
Ask the students create commercials on video. Assign each student or a group of students a specific product, allow them to pick from within a field of items or have them create their own product for the purposes of the commercial. The main goals of the commercial project are to inform the audience about the item, and persuade them to want to buy it.
If students are studying abroad or just going on a trip to another city or state, this project provides the perfect opportunity to create a travel video. Ask students to include some historical information about the locale, as well as why the area is important. They may also take viewers on a virtual tour of the famous tourist spots, as well as of the religion and culture of the people currently living in the area.
Set up this opportunity with students in another school in the area or with students who live in another country. Students video tape one another talking about their hobbies, interests and what a typical school day is like in their own land. Set up an online system to transfer the videos or mail them back and forth between schools.
