Obtain an application. Go to the Department of Education website through TN.Gov. The SES program is covered under educator information regarding federal programs offered through Title 1. An application can be downloaded from this site.
Meet criteria. To be an approved SES provider, your business, organization or agency must have a proven track record of helping students grow academically. Top-notch methods and materials for instruction must be part of the curriculum, along with evidence the lessons lead to student improvement. The program must meet both state and school curriculum standards. The provider must also have sound financial standing.
Apply during the appropriate period. SES provider applications are accepted between Feb. 1 and March 25. The original application and three copies should be prepared. An electronic version in a Word document must also be included on a disk with name, date and "SES application" on the label. The application, copies and disk should be mailed to the Tennessee Department of Education, 5th Floor, Andrew Johnson Tower, 710 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243-0375.
Await response. A representative from the Tennessee Department of Education will contact you to confirm receipt of your application. A team of educators will review your application. Expect a response by June 30 on whether you have been approved or denied as an SES provider.
