How to Find 1/4 of the Circumference of a Circle

A circle is a geometric shape with a closed curve where every point is an equal distance from a point in the center of the circle. The circumference of a circle is a measure of the distance around the perimeter of the circle. When applied to a circle, circumference and perimeter is the same measurement. To find the circumference of a whole circle, multiply the diameter by pi. To find 1/4 of the circumference of a circle, you must take into account the fraction of the circle.

Instructions

    • 1

Collect the data you are given about the circle. To find the circumference, you need either the radius or the diameter of the circle.

    • 2

Multiply the radius by 2 to get the diameter. If you already have the diameter, simply multiply the diameter by pi, which is approximately 3.14, to get the circumference of the whole circle.

    • 3

Multiply the circumference of the whole circle by .25, which is the same as 1/4, to get 1/4 of the circumference of a circle.
