Nose Activities for Children

Nose activities for children educate them about the important protuberance in the center of their faces. Different activities with noses would include remembering the letters of the alphabet and learning about the five senses, where noses help you smell. Other nose activities would teach children the proper way to blow their noses and to celebrate the winter holidays.
  1. Alphabet

    • One nose activity for children would be learning the letter "N" in the alphabet. Write a bold letter "N" on a blackboard or dry erase board and add a nose onto the letter. Teach the children that the word "nose" begins with the letter "N." Pass out drawing paper and crayons and ask the children to draw their face with a nose in the center and then write the letter "N" and the word "nose" at the bottom.

    Senses

    • Children will learn about their sense of smell with a nose activity. Fill five glass containers with different items which have strong smells. Examples would be vinegar, ground cinnamon, onion, soap and roses. Ask the children to smell each one and guess its contents. To accompany the nose activity, read a book to the students about noses and the ability to smell, such as "The Story of Ferdinand" by Munro Leaf or "The Holes in Your Nose" by Genichiro Yagyu.

    Blowing

    • Teach children how to properly blow their noses with a nose activity. Blowing your nose on a tissue helps rid the nose of excess nasal secretions and decrease the transmission of germs, according to Web MD. Children should learn to blow out through their noses first by trying to make a tissue an inch away move with their mouths closed. Play a game with blowing the tissue across the room with their noses. Then instruct them to blow their noses by closing their mouths and hold one nostril shut, but warn them not too blow too hard or else they can hurt their ears.

    Rudolph

    • Tape the picture of Rudolph onto a wall or blackboard.

Celebrate Christmas and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer with a nose activity for children. One game with Rudolph would be to pin or stick a red nose onto a picture of Rudolph. Find a Christmas reindeer poster or decoration for the game and then purchase large red dots, approximately 2 inches wide. Blindfold the children and then instruct them to stick the red nose onto Rudolph.
