* The Muskegon Heights Public School District was established in 1892.

Muskegon Heights Public Schools Today
The Muskegon Heights Public School District currently has six schools:
* Muskegon Heights High School
* Muskegon Heights Middle School
* Muskegon Heights Elementary School
* Muskegon Heights Early Childhood Center
The district has a total enrollment of just over 2,000 students. Over 90% of students in the Muskegon Heights Public School District are African American. Muskegon Heights has over 95% of their students considered economically disadvantaged based on their qualification of free and reduced lunch. Due to this the dropout rate within the district can also be high.
