How do school uniforms increase attendance?

School uniforms do not increase student attendance rates. Students that are absent from school in uniform still show decreased attendance regardless of if it is from poverty, medical issues, truancy, family trips, parent illness, mental disability, bullying issues, homelessness, substance abuse problems and a slew of other reasons why students miss school. While students may miss school while still not in uniform (due to the same exact aforementioned reasons), wearing a school uniform in no way reduces that absence.
