What is the difference between a Latin word root and Greek root?

Latin word roots and Greek roots are both prefixes or suffixes used in English words. However, the two are derived from different languages.

Latin word roots are derived from the Latin language, while Greek word roots are derived from the Greek language.

Because of the far reach and influence of both ancient culture, Latin and Greek word roots are quite common even in modern English words. They tend to appear in English words pertaining to the study of literature, science and medicine.
