What does (alliteration) mean?

Alliteration is a literary device where words that start with the same sound are placed close together. This repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words creates a pleasing effect on the ear and can make the writing more memorable.

Here are some examples:

* Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. (The "p" sound is repeated)

* Busy as a bee. (The "b" sound is repeated)

* She sells seashells by the seashore. (The "s" sound is repeated)

Alliteration is often used in:

* Poetry: To create a rhythmic effect and enhance the imagery.

* Prose: To emphasize a particular phrase or idea.

* Advertising: To make slogans and brand names more memorable.

* Tongue twisters: To create a fun and challenging exercise.
