How does Leslie stop the teacher from seeing Jesse in Bridge to Terabithia?

In Bridge to Terabithia, it is not Leslie who tries to stop the teacher from seeing Jesse. It is May Belle Aarons who tries to tell Miss Edmunds about Jesse Tuck as she believes that Jesse is harming Leslie.
