How to Convert a Metric Length to US Feet & Inches

While the majority of the world uses the metric system for measuring volume, mass and length, Americans, for the most part, remain committed to standard measurements. Medical professionals dispense medicine in milligrams and track and field's governing body records distances in meters, but nearly everyone else quickly forgets metric units shortly after learning them in grade school. Fortunately, converting metric units to their standard equivalents requires only basic math skill, and numerous conversion calculators are available online for the mathematically challenged.
