Choose a topic and break up the students into groups. Allow each group to research their topic and put together a presentation for the class. Working together as a group helps students develop team building skills. Students will have to learn to work with different personalities and take other students' opinions into consideration.
Give students an opportunity to explore their creative sides with an art project that explores leadership. Each student can draw a picture, write a poem, write a story or create a collage on the meaning of leadership. Have each student present their project to the class. Teachers can lead discussions around leadership so students can have a better understanding of the life skill.
Take 20 minutes each week to develop students' problem solving skills. Provide students with a question or a problem and have the students come up with solutions. For example, you can ask students about five things they would bring to a deserted island. You can have students work individually or in groups. At the end of the 20-minute time allotment, discuss the students' answers.
Help students develop their social skills by helping them interact with each other. Divide students into pairs. Tell students that they have to learn the names of their partners, favorite colors and favorite subjects in school. Each pair will take turns going to the front of the classroom to introduce their partner to the class. This helps students get to know their classmates.
