Some 4K Classroom Tips

One of the most precious times in a child's life is when he enter a classroom setting for the first time, such as in a 4K classroom. As a teacher, aide or volunteer, your job is to make this the most positive experience it can be for the child. Your challenge is that you will be dealing with a number of young children all at the same time.
  1. Make It Clean and Safe

    • One of the keys to operating a 4K classroom is keeping the area clean and safe. At the beginning and end of each day, clean all surfaces with antibacterial wipes. This will save everyone from illness. As you clean, notice any safety hazards that need to be rectified. Notify the building maintenance crew of the safety hazard.

    Keep It Organized

    • Make sure every item has its own spot and is put away at the end of each activity. Have designated spots for all toys, craft supplies and educational materials. Do an audit each week of organization and tie up any loose ends, for example by purchasing more containers for supplies or creating more shelf space.

    Start With a Schedule

    • Follow a schedule each day that is dictated by a class curriculum. Leave room in the schedule for the unforeseen, such as emergency bathroom breaks, spills, falls and play. Remember, children depend on play for their development, so make the schedule casual and allow for laughter.

    Delegate Responsibility

    • Assign tasks to children around the classroom and throughout the day. These may be small chores or assisting with classroom activities. Chores give them an opportunity to learn about cooperation and responsibility while giving you a much-needed hand.
