Students need a good supply of No. 2 pencils to use on standardized tests. In addition to pencils, third-graders need erasers, markers, ink pens, pencil sharpeners, pencil holders, colored pencils and a large box of crayons filled with the entire color spectrum.
Children at the third-grade level spend a lot of time exploring things, including those things that may be soiled or dirty. Students should keep a bottle of hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, antibacterial soap and a large box of tissue.
Different subjects may require students to have additional supplies other than a pen and pencil. Students need rulers, notebooks, spiral notebooks and goggles for science. Third-graders also look forward to recess and physical education. With that in mind, students need tennis shoes, gym wear and any additional sporting materials for their physical education class.
Third-grade students need to ensure that they have some essential supplies such as scissors, glue, glue stick, notebook paper, stapler and paper-hole puncher. Additional miscellaneous supplies include pocket folders, plastic bags to keep loose materials in, a planner to write down assignments and homework and a backpack for transporting all their things.
