Who invented summer school?

There's no single inventor of summer school. It evolved gradually over time, with different influences contributing to its development. Instead of an invention, it's more accurate to describe its rise as a response to several societal needs:

* Addressing learning gaps: Initially, summer programs often focused on helping students who fell behind during the regular school year to catch up.

* Expanding educational opportunities: As educational opportunities expanded, summer programs offered a way to provide extra instruction or enrichment activities for students who wanted to learn more.

* Teacher training: Summer programs were also used as a way for teachers to receive additional professional development.

So, while no single person invented summer school, its development was a collective effort driven by the need to address various educational challenges and opportunities.
