When did school students first start to recite the pledge of allegence?

The Pledge of Allegiance was first written in 1892, but its recitation in schools didn't become widespread until after its adoption by Congress in 1942. While it was recited in some schools before then, the 1942 flag resolution, which included a requirement for daily flag salute, significantly increased its prevalence in public schools across the United States.
