Enter a highway, turnpike or interstate by driving down the on ramp and preparing to yield right of way to traffic already on said highway. Inch your speed up slowly. Look at the oncoming traffic to decide if you need to come to a stop or if you can blend in without cutting off a driver already on the road.
Yield right of way to traffic at four-way stop signs. The rule is first come, first go. Stop completely and allow the driver already there to proceed first. If two vehicles get to the stop sign at the exact same time, yield to the person on your right.
Prepare to yield right of way to traffic at yield signs. When you see a yield sign coming up, slow down and prepare to stop if conditions warrant it. You may proceed with caution when it's safe to do so.
Consider a merge sign to be similar to a yield sign. This time you must merge with traffic already on the road, but the rule is different.
Merge by allowing one car from one lane to go then the car from the other lane goes. Continue this one by one, but always prepare to stop or to yield to traffic so that there's no accident. No one technically has the right of way in merges, so exercise extreme caution.
