Maintain a space margin ahead when following motorcycles large trucks school buses?

Maintain a larger following distance when driving behind motorcycles, large trucks, and school buses.

Large vehicles have larger blind spots, making it more difficult for drivers to see you. Trucks carrying heavy loads may need more room to maneuver and stop. Motorcycles are more vulnerable to being hit in a collision. In case they suddenly break, you will have a safe following distance to react accordingly.

Here is a general guideline for following distance:

- Motorcycles: At least 3 seconds.

- Large trucks and school buses: At least 4 seconds.

To measure your following distance, pick a fixed object (such as a sign or tree) along the side of the road. When the vehicle in front of you passes the object, start counting seconds. You should reach the same object at least 3-4 seconds later.

Always be prepared to stop if the vehicle in front of you slows down or stops suddenly.
