How to Calculate Hydraulic Power

Hydraulic power is the force exerted at one end of a hydraulic line when force is applied to the opposing end of the same hydraulic line or system. Hydraulic power utilizes a pseudo-simple machine in what is known as Pascal's law. This dictates that the products of the force exerted on one end of the hydraulic line over the area in which it is exerted is equal to the force received on the opposing end divided by the area over which it is received.

      Measure the areas associated with the input and output of the hydraulic line or system.

      Divide the area from which the force is output from the system by the area from which the force is input initially.

      Multiply the resultant quotient by the initial force exerted into the system. The resulting figure is the force experienced at the output end of the hydraulic line or system.
