Print out the Declaration of Intent to Utilize a Home Study Program form, available from the Georgia Department of Education, and fill out the names and birth dates of the children that you wish to home-school.
Decide on a 12-month period in which you will educate your child at home--08/25/10 to 08/24/11, for example--and write the dates on the form in the provided section.
Using either your local phone book or Georgia Department of Education website, locate the name of the superintendent for the school district in which you reside and place his or her name on the form.
Print your address and name on the form and then sign and date it.
Place the intent form into an envelope and address it to the superintendent of the school district in which you reside.
Request a service such as delivery confirmation or certified mail from the United States Post Office so that you have proof that you have mailed in the required form.
Mail your declaration of intent by the first day of September to guarantee compliance for the school year.
Mail your declaration of intent within 30 days of establishing a home school program for your child if you are withdrawing them from current enrollment in a public or private school.
