King David spoke of the protection God grants for young believers when he said, "Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me" (Psalm 27:10). God is never far from children, and when they trust in him, he protects and keeps them safely in his grasp.
God meets the needs of his children, and lovingly cares for them. Isaiah 40:11 declares that "He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young."
The promise of eternal life and salvation for children come through believing on Jesus. In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus describes it this way: "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" (Matthew 19:14).The Lord's will is that everyone should come to know and trust in him, and that "whoever will call on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).
The baptism in the Holy Spirit was foretold by John the Baptist, and affirmed by the Book of Acts, which teaches that people should repent of their sins, and be baptized and if they did so, then they would receive the Holy Spirit. According to Acts, the promise was not guaranteed only to them but to children, stating, "the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord calls to Himself" (Acts 2:39).
