Preparefor your class and think about each young adult's specific needs and the best way to address those. If your church provides a manual for your class, read over the proposed lesson and create a plan to emphasize bullet points of the lesson. Read Scriptures that pertain to the lesson and decide at what part of the lesson those verses will be most effective to present.
Include quotes and stories in your lesson and have the young adults read them out loud to the class. Ask questions about what they've read; when they respond, ask more questions to create a discussion. Ask general questions throughout the lesson to get the young adults thinking about the material being presented and formulating responses.
Apply Scripture stories, lesson principles and quotes to real-life situations catered to young adults' specific age group. Help them realize how what they learn in class can be applicable to their lives. Ask them to share specific experiences in their life that relate to your lesson, but be sensitive to their uneasiness to share.
Include activities in the lesson that involve the entire class. Try to use a game that will help everyone to learn but also is fun. Try using role-playing situations that encourage the students to interact.
Recap the major points of the lesson to ingrain what has been taught. Develop a rotation that lets the young adults teach the lesson. Make sure they have appropriate materials to teach, and assist them during the lesson if they get stuck.
